About ANMAC and Skilled Migration Services

The Australian Nursing & Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) helps protect the health and safety of the Australian community by establishing high-quality standards of nursing and midwifery education, training and assessment.

ANMAC's Skilled Migration Services (SMS) team is responsible for assessing the skills of overseas nurses and midwives who want to migrate to Australia under the General Skilled Migration program, to determine whether an applicant has the relevant qualifications and experience needed for permanent migration to Australia.

About the Opportunity

ANMAC now has a new opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to join their Skilled Migration Services (SMS) team in Canberra as a full-time Senior Assessor.

Reporting to the SMS Manager, you will be leading a team of 5 Assessors and utilising your clinical skills to provide oversight to the skills assessment process.

Your responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Managing daily assessment targets, including completing assessments and reviewing the quality and accuracy of assessment documentation;
  • Liaising with applicants, migration agents, and other key stakeholders regarding the progress of their applications and skills assessments;
  • Supporting the SMS Manager to develop and review policies, guidelines and processes; and
  • Providing administrative support and responding to incoming inquiries, both via email and over the phone, as required.

About You

To be considered for this role you will be an AHPRA Registered Nurse with at least 5 years of Australian experience and broad clinical skills, ideally coming from a generalist hospital background.

Your comprehensive knowledge of current nursing and midwifery practice will be crucial, as will an up to date understanding of emerging trends or issues, both Nationally and Internationally.

Able to communicate effectively with clients from culturally diverse backgrounds, you will be able to draw on your excellent interpersonal and communication skills to ensure that all stakeholders receive quality service and support. Firm but fair, you'll lead by example, comfortable flagging any issues with your team and confident providing advice and utilising your clinical expertise.

You’ll have excellent organisation skills, strong attention to detail, and be an excellent multi-tasker, with the ability to work both independently and as a team. Your computer literacy skills will also be crucial, allowing you to learn and use a range of computer software and systems.
