Sacro’s current Veteran’s Mentoring Service (VMS) has a post become available to work across Fife and Tayside area. The service aims to support people who have completed service with the Armed Forces and are at risk of becoming involved or are already involved in the criminal justice system.

VMS is an intensive mentoring and one to one support service that is focussed on supporting veterans, at a time of significant challenge in their lives. The post holder(s) will assist veterans to recognise and develop their life skills including accessing education and employment training, sustaining their tenancies and accommodation, and building the confidence to make critical changes in their lives. These critical changes include addressing their offending behaviour, understanding the effects of this on their lives and the lives of their families and friends and addressing alcohol and substance use issues.

The post holder should be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work both as part of a team and independently is required.  A lived experience of the military or experience as part of a military lifestyle is essential to the post. Experience of inter-agency working, advocacy and support is essential. A commitment to Sacro’s value base is crucial, as this type of work can be challenging. Experience of working with offenders is essential.

A valid driving licence and access to a car is essential for this post. 

Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Group Scheme (PVG) will be a requirement for this post.
