This is a remarkable opportunity to work with an incredibly dedicated team and use your knowledge of policy development in the areas of conservation and sustainability to help save our planet. We want you to use your expertise with the world’s leading independent conservation organisation in Scotland.
As Policy Advisor, you will help deliver our new strategy tackling climate change, thriving habitats and species and changing the food system. This will involve building on our strong and established track record of working with the Scottish Parliament and Government to secure better decisions for our environment. Interested in the process and outcome of policy development you will explore and develop solutions as well as design and prototype policy and influence implementation. Initially, you will focus on integrated food policy development, working closely with the Scottish Food Coalition and other partners, to develop our evidence on food consumption and diets. Day-to-day you will analyse existing and proposed policies for effectiveness and quality as well as research and design new policy proposals. This will involve producing technical reports, documents and briefings and commissioning consultants. You will liaise with colleagues across the organisation on relevant food policy workstreams too. Important will be the ability to seek inclusive approaches and create and deliver diverse, relevant and impactful ideas for policy.
You must have experience of policy development in the areas of climate, food production or consumption. You will demonstrate an understanding of how policy is developed and influenced and the ability to use evidence to analyse problems and create solutions. Expert at identifying key or underlying issues in complex situations, you will be an experienced researcher. You will possess excellent influencing, relationship building and communication skills too. You will also understand the opportunities and challenges that arise from working on UK wide issues and, ideally, have a strong understanding of the Scottish policy environment. Vital will be well-developed communication, influencing and relationship building skills.
If you have the knowledge to develop, implement and influence high-quality policy we would love to hear from you. Please visit our website via the link, complete the online registration and submit a copy of your up-to-date CV with the Supporting Statement highlighting what makes you a good fit for us.

Our world needs you like never before. We are the first generation to know we are destroying the world and we could be the last that can do anything about it. We are looking for people who are passionate about making it politically, socially and economically unacceptable to destroy our planet’s natural resources. We need you to join us in the fight for our world.
