Grants

St Albans City and District Council (SADC) distributes funding to voluntary and community groups in the form of grants. These grants support the delivery of projects and activities that benefit the local community and meet the council’s priorities.

Community Project Fund - closed Toggle accordion

What is it?

The Community Project Fund is for projects which meet community needs.

Who can apply?

Voluntary and community sector organisations, social enterprise organisations and community interest companies.

How do I apply?

You will need to read the Criteria and Guidance document and complete an application form. 

An information event was held online on the 8th of June, 2023. Please see the presentation linked below.

Further support is provided by Communities 1st which includes one-to-one meetings and advice surgeries. Check the Guidance document for dates and go to https://www.communities1st.org.uk/calendar/month to book onto the advice surgeries.

How much is available?

Grants of between £500 and £5,000 will be awarded.

When is the deadline for submissions?

The deadline is midnight on 20 July 2023. Email your application and all required information to StAlbansGrants@communities1st.org.uk.

 

Community Revenue Fund - closed Toggle accordion

What is it?

An annual fund aimed at organisations with a track record of delivery of services in the District in need of funds to cover general running costs to continue their usual activities.

Who can apply?

Voluntary and community sector organisations, social enterprise organisations and community interest companies.

How do I apply?

Applications for the Community Revenue Fund 2023-24 have now closed. Please check back here for details of 2024-25 Community Revenue Fund dates.

How much is available?

Organisations may apply for between £2,000 and £10,000.

Strategic Fund Toggle accordion

SADC fund four partners whose work is considered to be of strategic importance to the delivery of the Council’s priorities.

The strategic partners for 2021-24 are:  

  • Communities 1st
  • Citizens Advice St Albans District (CASTAD)
  • Hightown Housing Association (Open Door Service and Mother & Baby Unit)
  • St Albans and Hertsmere Women’s Refuge (SAHWR)

Partnership with Communities 1st

The Council part-funds Communities 1st to assist with providing information and guidance concerning a wide range of grant funding available to local voluntary and community groups (not grants for individuals). Communities 1st is a Membership organisation, details of membership and the types of funding advice available can be found on their website http://www.communities1st.org.uk
